Collection: Calico Lake

It was discovered in 1909 at the bottom of a dried-up lake in Lander County, Nevada. Calico Lake turquoise is still mined today, but due to the harsh winters and the remote location of the mine, it can only be mined during certain periods of the year. The color is yellow-green, a result of the mixture of copper and zinc.
