It was mined in Lander County, Nevada from the late 1950s to 1980, and is now closed and buried under a mountain of rock. It is called a hat mine, which means that the amount of mining was very small, and only enough was produced to fit in a hat. It is characterized by a black smoky matrix surrounded by vivid blue, and resembles Stormy Mountain.
